Are you thinking about making a change in your job or career? Are you considering going back to school for further training and education, but aren’t sure where to go? RSU13 Adult Education can help! Biology with Lab

For any and all students who are prepping for Nursing or Medical Laboratory Technology admissions review, this is an excellent opportunity to meet the admissions "Biology with lab" prerequisite. If you have been away from science courses for a while, this course is recommended to prep you for rigorous college science classes. Students who successfully complete this class will earn 1 high school credit. This course is provided at no cost to students through the Maine College and Career Access Services grant and RSU13 Adult & Community Education. This is a fully remote course.

Schedule (face-to-face via Zoom):

--Class Orientation- December 18th - 1:30-2:30pm

--First Day of Class: December 28, 7:00-8:30pm

--Class Schedule: December 28-January 25: Mondays and Wednesdays, 7:00-8:30pm and Saturdays, 9:00-10:30am

--Course includes three weekly 1.5 hr. Zoom classes, plus assignments outside of class time. The combined estimated time for all of this will be about 50 hours.

Prepare for all aspects of attending college during this 13 week distance learning course.  Topics include financial aid, study skills, career exploration, time management, navigating college, technology skills, and more.  This course has weekly Zoom classes and uses Brightspace, an online learning platform, for all assignments, discussions and quizzes.  Students completing this course are well prepared for the college experience and earn 3 college credits through University of Maine at Augusta.

Prepare for the Next Gen Accuplacer test in Arithmetic during this twelve week distance learning course.  Class is held weekly on Zoom and students will use Brightspace to access assignments and quizzes. Topics include operations with whole numbers, decimals, fractions and percents. This course is recommended for beginning math students who need to rebuild the foundational math skills and concepts needed for more advanced math studies.  Accuplacer Arithmetic testing is provided for students (at no cost) during the last class.

Prepare for the Next Gen Accuplacer test in Quantitative Reasoning, Algebra and Statistics (QRAS) during this twelve week distance learning course.  Class is held weekly on Zoom and students will use Brightspace to access assignments and quizzes.  Topics include proportions, exponents, algebraic expressions, linear equations, statistics, probability and geometric concepts.  Students entering this course should be fluent in basic math operations (add, subtract, multiply and divide) and have confidence working with fractions.  Accuplacer QRAS testing is provided for students (at no cost) during the last class.

This distance learning course will prepare you to take the Next-Generation Accuplacer Test in Reading and Writing and teach you the skills you need for college-level English classes. You’ll learn reading strategies for understanding challenging texts, increase your vocabulary, and improve your grammar and writing skills through exercises, short writing assignments, and an argumentative essay. All classes are held on Zoom. There will be opportunities for sharing and small group work. The Accuplacer Reading and Writing Test is provided for students at no cost during the last class.
